Menu Planning: February 9-15

Bother. So much for 2 productive weeks in a row. Time to revaluate my time management strategy!

  • Make a list of techniques to be illustrated. (in progress)
  • Evaluated intended recipe list on spreadsheet and fill any holes/balance out the offerings. (in progress)
  • Test 2 more recipes (this time main dishes).
  • Script the Chapter 1 comic story.
  • Plan first fundraiser. (in progress)

Not a total loss, no, but not nearly what I’d hoped to accomplish. The sad thing is that the story for Chapter 1 is the one I’m best acquainted with as it’s the first one I thought of months ago. It’s in my head, all I have to do is write it down. Sigh…

But the recipe work went well. Very well. The breakfast casserole that I usually make for 48 (or more) scaled down for 4 with very little trouble. I did have to make some adjustments for normal portions at the smaller volume and workable amounts (I don’t want folks to be dealing with a third of a teaspoon or 5/6th of a cup of something just because I used math alone to scale the recipes. This is why I’m taking the time to test every recipe at least once. It’s not practical to do each one at 4, 8 and 12 servings, but I know what ones might be problematic if not tested so can choose the right serving size to go over for each.

I want these recipes to be as foolproof as possible.

The illustration list has about a dozen techniques on it so far, but I know I’m missing some so I don’t want to call that line item done. Nor the evaluating my lists. Actually, that’s going to be ongoing, but I want to at least get all the lists made before I check that one off.

The fundraiser I’m still puzzling over. This one might take another week or so to decide the direction I want to go. Things I’m considering: wallpapers, screen-printed recipe cards (blank), recipe postcards mailed to you, bringing back the recipe sponsorships that were posted on Kickstarter plus others.

So next week’s list looks *very* familiar:

  • Finish the list of techniques to be illustrated.
  • Evaluated intended recipe list on spreadsheet and fill any holes/balance out the offerings.
  • Test 1 recipe.
  • Script the Chapter 1 comic story.
  • Plan first fundraiser.

The only thing I changed was the recipe–I know with this weekend being a holiday and having a party to go to (a dog’s 3rd birthday party, to be exact) there’s a good opportunity to try out a recipe for Saturday night but not much other time.
