So, yeah, life through me a curve ball (that would be the extent of my baseball metaphors) last week and I’m in rebuild mode. Most annoying is the persistent joint pain that’s been messing with my hands when I write or use a mouse. Grr. But I’m working on it. And I’m also working on a plan to get everything I want to done without stressing myself out or working myself into a useless state.
As such, what I got done this week was test 9 recipes. Most of those were tested on Saturday before my family came over for an early Easter supper. I still have several recipes to test throughout this week and, frankly, I’ve noticed on the weeks I’m recipe-testing I don’t get as much writing or planning done. Applause for insight, right?
So this week, rather than try and do it all, I’m going to focus on testing recipes. When it’s Todd’s turn to cook next week I’ll concentrate on writing and more of the mechanics of the book. In the mean time, I’m going to do my best to get the next Food & Game pairing up on Thursday. That may become a biweekly feature to give me more time to study each game.
Another thing I’m trying to do more of is take pictures of the dishes I’ve tested. Swikan mentioned this was something she’d be really interested in and while I plan for images in the book to be drawn illustrations rather than picture images, there’s nothing to say I can’t post them here! Look for those to start popping up periodically.
Finally, got leftover easter eggs or just a hankerin’ for some egg salad? I posted my recipe over at Nibbles & Bites yesterday, feel free to give it a try!
